Races of Reinsidor

Dwarves

Dwarves are somber, dark and pesimistic. For all of their history they've had to defend themselves from other races, specially orcs and giants.Created by [War god], the Lord of Battle, they welcome the chance to test their skill against worthy foes. After the Shattering, the a few Dwarves joined forces with Gnomes and some humans to form the Attreus Commonality, which remains one of the most powerful nations to date. Other Dwarven clans have been spotted in the Outer Ring of Reinsidor, but have, so far, remained independant.

Elves

Elves were created by [God of Forest] but the very first elves were captured by dragons and forced into servitude for the longest time. It is suspected that issues about the Elves' freedom is one of the triggering events of the Dragon War, that brought an end to the age of Dragons millenia ago. Elves have remained appart from the world for the most part. After the shattering, elves migrated to an island somewhere outsied the Outer Ring, seeking to distance themselves from the decadent humans, though a few independent clans remain protecting woods and forests within the Northern Arc of the Outer Ring. Elves will usually live to be about 1500 years before dying of old age. The few that travel to human lands are adventurers or outcasts.

Gnomes

Gnomes are jokers and tricksters. They take pride in their curiosity, and are renowned as inventors and engineers. Gnomes are a young race, appearing at somewhat the same time as humans, created by [Miner god] straight from the rock. They have always lived in good relations with the humans, and after the shattering, joined humans and dwarves in the formation of the Atreus Commonwealth.

Half-Humans

Humans are an incredibly fertile race, the first to be able to breed with members of other races. Half humans are the result of these interacial affairs. They are a varied sort, never really accepted by neither race. Halfbloods are often discriminated against by both their parent races. Mixed Blood characters are sterile and may not have children of their own.
Half-Humans also have the blood of other humanoids coursing through their veins. As such, they may use items specifically made for members of those races.

Half-Elves

The offspring of Elves and Humans, Half-Elves are welcome in Elven lands, and in Albion. Other nations accept them, but view their elfin ascendancy with suspicion.

Half-Orcs

Half-Orcs are the rare offspring of humans and orcs, usually produced when orcs capture humans as slaves and rape the captured females. Of all the Half-breed races half-orcs are the most hated, almost universally shunned and hunted like demons. Since orcs seem to be aiding the Suahagin in their fight against Astriol, more and more Half-Orcs are appearing in that front, which is not doing anything to mitigate the bad image other races have of this mixed blood race.

Half-Dwarves

Never common to begin with, Half-Dwarves are becoming rarer these days. During the early days of Astriol, after the Illithid War, Humans and Dwarves ventured together creating great works of Engineering. These days, they're most common on the Attreus Commonwealth. Like most halfblooded races, Dwarves are almost never at home in either of their parent's cultures.

Half-Felines

Half-Felines are quite common these days, especially in Astriol and Albion.

Halflings

Halflings are good natured woodlands beings. They've always been short in numbers, and have never gained preponderance over Reinsidor. A few Halfling comunities have appeared since the Shattering, seeking Albionite protection from the dangers of the world. Halflings were created by [Family], Goddess of Families and Communities, and as such family members have an extremely strong bond between themselves.

Humans

The Humans were created by [Sun] as a way to put down the Illithid who had dared to darken the sun with their Darkrift Crystals. The humans lived up to [Suns] expectations, as they eventually overthrew the tyranic gripe of the Psions and established themselves as lords of Reinsidor. The humans' days of glory over Reinsidor are now long past. Once the undisputed masters of the world, their actions during the Godswar brought their own downfall. The once powerfull human Empire of Astriol is now nothing but a shadow of its former self and the days of a human dominance over Reinsidor seem counted.

Felines

Felines are one of the previous leaders of Reinsidor. They rose to power for a brief while after defeating the previous master's of the world in a short but furious campaign. A good natured race, they took the fledgling Illithids under their wing, trying to show them the ways of greatness, never forseeing that the Mind Flayers might grow more powerful than themselves, and eventually take their place as rulers of Reinsidor.
Personality: Felines are good natured, humurous, flamboyant and pompous. They would not give a straight answer if it is posible to embelish it in some way. Some say that Felines are also vain, often indulging in tales of self glorification. Felines love music, dancing and tales.
Physical Description: Felines are as tall as humans, and somewhat slimmer. Their hands have retractable clwas which may be used as weapons if needed. Their bodies are covered in fur, ranging in color from pitch black, to bright yellow, to a brown-yellow hue.
Relations: Felines admire the elven artistic tradition, enjoy the gnomish sense of humour and the halfling's openness and hospitality, but find most other races to be to serious, rigid or somber to be any fun. Felines have an intense hatred of Illithids, and those that survive are trained in ways to fight such aberrations.
Alignment: Felines tend to be good natured, but some have become darker in their ways, after the falling caused by the Mind Flayers. Because of their strong sense of individuality, Felines tend toward Chaos.
Felines' Lands: Felines used to posses vast holdings across all of Celene. Must of their civilization was laid in ruins by the Illithid, who deposed them as rulers of Reinsidor. Now, there are few encampments of Felines left, most have attached themselves to the humans and live near some human settlements.
Religion: Felines worship primarily [GG] the dead godess of beauty. This has caused some frictions with the church of [], but given the reduced numbers of Felines, the []-ites have focused their attentions elsewhere.
Language: As well as Common, Felines speak their own language, Feline.
Names: A young Feline choses his own name upon reaching maturity, and will carry it for the rest of his life. The name usually has some descriptive quality, or is otherwise relevant to the individual Feline. On certain ocassions, Felines are bestowed Bloodnames by the members of their comunity. These are a sign of great prestige, and are awarded for acts of great courage. A Feline awarded a Bloodname will use it in preferance over his chosen name, except in situations where he seeks forgiveness or as an act of attonement. The ultimate punishment a Feline may suffer is to be stripped of all his names.

Felines racial traits
Alkariani

The name Alkariani is probably a tergiversation of the Auran word Alkahareenus, which means "Winged One". The Alkariani are a young race, product of the Day of the Shattering. Some claim that Alkariani are somehow linked to the appearance of the red moons in the skies of Reinsidor after the Shattering. Others speculate that Alkariani are somehow related to Celestials and Devils, both because of their appearance and because they seem to be an inherently divine species, much like the Elves or Dragons are inherently magical in nature.
Personality: Alkariani are a deliberate, thoughtful race. They act only when the full consecuences of their actions have been weighted, and they feel they have prepared sufficiently. Because of this, they are rarely surprised or defeated in any endeavour they wish to undertake.
Physical Description: Alkariani appear as humans, only taller and thinner, but with a definite mix of traits that could sugest celestial and fiendish origin. They posses wings on their back that can be feathered or bat-like, but in both cases the wings appear to be vestigial at best, and may not support the Alkariani's body weight in full flight, but may still be used to glide short distances if the Alkariani is not encumbered. An Alkariani with bat-like wings usually has topaz eyes and brilliant silver or gold hair, while a feather winged Alkariani will have feral features, such as flaming red eyes and sharp fangs.
Relations: Alkariani admire Dwarven dedication and thoroughness, considering them bastions of stability and thus, strength. They admire as well the Halfling dedication to family. Many churches have taken a keen interest in the Alkariani for their seemingly divine conection with the gods. Only the church of [Tiranny] has taken a completely hostile outlook against Alkariani, and any Winged One seen openly in the Kingdom of Baralt is thrown in the first available ship out of the Kingdom.
Alignment: Alkariani tend to be True Neutral, but with strong tendencies towards both good and evil.
Alkariani's Lands: No known lands exist where Alkariani have preponderance.
Religion: Alkariani are deeply religious, and worship the entire accepted pantheon, though those that worship the dead gods tend to do so in secrecy.
Language: Alkariani speak Common and Auran, and are also fluent in either Celestial or Infernal.
Names: The Alkariani speak of themselves in the third person, never using personal pronouns such as I, Me or Mine, because doing so assumes arrogantly that the interlocutor knows who you are. Despite this, they never reveal their true name to an outsider, for they consider names to have special meaning beyond merely identifying its owner.
Male Names: ???
Female Names: ???
Adventures: An adventuring Alkariani is usually a cast out of the main Alkariani community, or he has very specific goals that he wishes to achieve.

Saurials

Another young race, Saurials claim to be the heirs to the Ancient Dragons' power. They began walking over Reinsidor shortly after the shattering, and have established comunities outside human dominated space. Saurials are generally viewed by others with a mix of awe and suspicion, and most are generally left alone.
Personality: Saurials are proud, arrogant, overconfident and covetous, traits common to most dragons. They seem to be equally inclined to thoughtfull deliberation as to rash actions.
Physical Description: Saurials seem like exotic humans, with hair that varies in color from icy blue-hite to darkest black. Their eyes have no pupils, and vary in coloration the same as their hair. Their skin seems smooth and hairless, except over their spine, where the vestigial remains of scales can still be seen.
Relations: Saurials has remained away from the main civilized centers of Reinsidor. Humans and elves that tried to approach the Saurials were rebuffed and sent back the way they came with a message: Stay away from our affairs, and we'll remain away from yours.
Alignment: Saurials are unpredictable and strongly emotional, but have no apparent inclination towards good or evil, thus tend towards CN.
Saurials' Lands: Saurials have established outposts outside of Human dominated Reinsidor. They guard the secret of the locations of their main cties to the point of skuttling ships just to make sure any Travel Logs are destroyed. The Baraltian Explorer Corps have been working assiduously to find and document the maritime routes used by Saurial ships to resupply their fledgling outposts, since all attempts to discover their location through divination has failed.
Religion: Saurials seem not to worship any god in the pantheon.
Language: Saurials speak Common and Draconic.
Names: Saurials bear long, complex names. They believe a name is a shortened version of an individual's history, and for this reason Saurials add Runes to their names each birthday that describe their history over the past year. It is a mark of distinction to create a poetic sounding names through the use of draconic runes. By the time they die, a Saurials' name will have hundreds of runes in length. It is a striking insult to shorten a Saurials' name without his express permision.
Male Names: Too complex for other races to understand.
Female Names: Too complex for other races to understand.
Adventures: Saurials often take to adventuring to seek fortune and glory, a way to make their names grow in a magnificent fashion.
